How DataScoop builds every dataset
Every row we serve comes from an official publisher's own bulk product or API, is normalised into a documented schema, and carries source attribution. The table below uses the live catalogue to show each dataset's recorded import date and the fields we withhold.
Where the data comes from
Only official sources: government registers, regulators and city open-data portals, taken from the bulk files or APIs they publish for reuse. We do not scrape consumer websites, buy lists from brokers, or merge third-party enrichment into the record. Each dataset's source and licence are listed below and on its own page.
What we change, and what we do not
We map each source's columns onto a consistent schema (the same field means the same thing across datasets), normalise obvious formatting (dates, whitespace, casing of identifiers) and attach the publisher's attribution to every row. We do not correct, merge or de-duplicate records by judgement: if the publisher carries a duplicate or an out-of-date entry, so do we, and a closed business leaves our copy when it leaves the source. The page-level statistics are computed from the same rows you can download.
Freshness
Datasets are due for a refresh 168 hours after their last successful import. We check for overdue copies after startup and every five minutes. Failed attempts are retried after six hours. A successful import replaces that dataset's stored copy. The recorded import date shows when DataScoop imported that copy, not when the publisher updated every record. Source publication dates and record-level dates, where provided, are separate. Publishers update on their own timetables, and delayed or failed imports can make our copy older. Check the official record before relying on a single row for a legal, financial or safety decision.
Fields included and withheld
Fields marked personal in our dataset definitions, such as registered-manager names, are excluded from public exports, API responses and pages. Those exclusions are listed per dataset below. Published business phone numbers may be included. Business names and addresses can identify sole traders or home-based businesses; we do not infer whether a published business address is also someone's home. The field list and free preview show what a dataset contains.
Corrections
If a record looks wrong, email hello@datascoop.io with the dataset, the record and a link to the official entry. We check it against the source at the next import and reply. We do not edit source data by hand.

DataScoop is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any publisher whose data it carries. Licences and attribution strings are on the licences page.
