Terms of service
The short version: preview free, pay for a single export or a 12-month access pass, use the data within its open licence, and do not resell it as your own or use it to target individuals.
The service
DataScoop provides access to public datasets as downloads, an API and an MCP server. Free access is limited (25 rows per query). A one-off export gives you every row matching one filter set, for the price shown at checkout. A Pro annual pass is a single payment for 12 months of access, with up to 10 included CSV downloads per account per day, plus API and MCP access. There are no monthly charges and no automatic renewal. Your account shows the expiry date; after expiry, access returns to the free plan unless you buy another pass. Files you have already downloaded remain yours to use under their source licences.
Your licence to the data
The underlying data is published by government bodies under open licences (listed on /licences), which permit commercial reuse with attribution. You may use, analyse and republish what you download provided you keep the attribution that accompanies it. You may not represent the data as your own original work, or use it to build lists that target individuals.
Accuracy
We take the data as published by the source and keep every record dated. Records can be out of date or contain errors at source; check the official record before relying on it for a decision with legal, financial or safety consequences. The service is provided as is, without warranty.
Daily download allowance
The annual pass includes 10 CSV downloads per account per calendar day, resetting at midnight UTC. Website and API CSV requests share the allowance, including requests made with replacement keys or different browser sessions. Each started CSV request counts, including repeat downloads and downloads you interrupt. After the allowance is used, included CSV downloads resume after the reset; free previews remain available. Separately purchased CSV exports keep their existing download access.
Fair use of the API
Keys are personal to you or your organisation. Do not share keys, scrape the site, or place unreasonable load on the API. We may suspend keys that do.
Refunds
If a one-off export is not what you previewed, or a download fails, email hello@datascoop.io within 14 days and we will fix it or refund it.
Liability and law
To the extent permitted by law our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
